getting crafty

A couple of weekends ago my friend Jene hosted a crocheting party. We learned to make these cupcakes. And I was inspired to continue working on a scarf I started months ago. Here is my first attempts at cupcakes. If they had faces it would be kids in hats...

Summer Toes

I have been thinking about the all important wedding details like hair and make-up and nails. Since my nails are short that's pretty easy, a sheer pink. But my toes? They are generally bright red or pink, which are not your usual bridal colors and both totally clash with the orange flowers and sashes. But, I just got these really cool orange sandals. So cute, but don't go so much with the red toes. So last night I decided to treat myself to a pedicure. They aren't that expensive hear and I am starting to wear sandals. The number one consideration was something to go with the new shoes! I was looking for a peachy color, thinking a pale or nude would be nice. But all the light colors were pink. Instead I went with a shimmery metallic orange.

And it looks great with the shoes!

And I also decided, who says a bride has to wear light colors or a french manicure. I am wearing bright orange! It works well with the silver too.

100!

Today is a big day. 100 days until I get married. It seems like so far away until I think it's May and that means just over three months. I am trying to patiently wait and enjoy the engagement season of life. The big stuff is all ready to go. So I am working on little odds and ends. I feel like I'm ready, but at the same time starting to worry that I will forget something. 100 little days.

Finished!

For the last three months (since the day I got engaged actually) I have been painting and redecorating Rob's apartment (with his help) to make it ours. This weekend we spent 4 straight days on the living room and are DONE! There are some minor organization things to take care of, but the apartment is finished. Here is the living room.

The before / during picture. See the tv on the right edge...it is gone. (there are some tue before pictures in my Thanksgiving post.)
The final product. The fancy new screen for the projector and the room did a 180. And Monkey got a new home under the pinball machine, which doubles as a crafting table.
Where the TV used to be. We gained so much space.
You can see my "office" in the background.

Photographer I am not

I saw in a magazine recently some photos of three rings, (the engagement and wedding bands) I thought it was in Martha Stewart Weddings, but now I can't find the article. But there were some cool photos of the rings on rocks and plants, and just in some interesting combinations. I tried to do the same. I am really excited about the wedding bands we bought. Our rings are all from different places, and each is unique. I attempted my own photo shoot, with my point and shoot camera. Rings are a tough subject, but I think you can get the general idea.

PS - Tomorrow Rob and I will have been engaged for three months. Is that all it has been? It feels like forever (in a good way) that it is time to get married and we have such a long time to wait. Three more months. But it also feels like we've been together for so much more than a year.
