Labor Day

For my last post here. I leave you with a picture. Rob and I went to Coney Island Beach on Labor Day to get some video footage for a project he's working on, and to eat some Nathan's Famous hotdogs, and to walk on the beach.

Two Year Blog-a-versary

Wow, I've been blogging for two years now. And I've mostly been consistent. I'd say I'm going to stick with this thing. So for the surprise. I've been thinking about this for awhile, and really it is still as ready as it was on Sunday, but it's a special occasion of sorts (being a blog-a-versary and all) so here it is.

I've decided it's time for a blog overhaul.

The info you don't really need: I want to get my blog tied to my correct email address. I started before I got married and was using my name as email (kaseykakes as my new email actually came from my blog because kaseypowers was taken)

So my BLOG IS MOVING! to a new and improved home. This time around I actually did more of the coding myself in setting size and color and image parameters. As I don't know a ton about html, I really just modified the template I have here, so there are a few pink and purple things that I am working on changing. So, when you are done reading this click on over to and read all about our PowerSful Life. Make sure you make it your new favorite. After tonight I won't be updating here anymore, but it will stay active if you really miss my pink city.

Rob says the new blog is a little more masculine looking. I think of it as gender neutral. And half of my posts are about Rob anyhow.

Since I started school, I know I want to blog about this new endeavor in my life. But I also want it to be a safe place where if I decide to maybe vent a little it won't come back to bite me. So, I am introducing DoctorK-Pow My Journey to a PhD as a private blog.

This does not mean I don't want you my friends and family to read it. It's just I need to add you to the reader list. And because Google has decided they want to take over the world, you need a google account to sign in (this does not mean you have to use google email, just create an account - if you have a google account you just need to be signed in) Anyhow, if you want to be added to the reader list, send me an email.

And that is the little project I've been working on. Check out the new blog and let me know what you think.

Oh Blog...

you think I have been neglecting you. But I have some surprises coming. And school, school is hard, and is keeping those surprises from showing themselves. But just wait. Soon the changes will be revealed. And they will be awesome.

First Day of School

Today is my first day of graduate school. In leiu of the traditional first day of school picture, here is one from the archives. Approximately 20 years ago, I'm pretty sure this is second grade in 1989. This denim jumper was the coolest.

Last night I made a fancy dinner for Rob and I. I pulled out the china and the crystal and the good serving dishes. There were even candles. Why use this stuff only when we have company, it's for us to enjoy too. There was no special occasion, just a because I love you dinner. And I didn't work yesterday and had lots of time.

I made Columbus's Pork Chops from Rachel Ray 365 no Repeats. Basically pork chops with with a strawberry, basil, balsamic topping. We also had a spring salad and some bread.

It was a ton of fun to sit down and enjoy a meal with French Cafe playing in the background.

P.S. for anyone who is wondering. The pictures of both Rob and I are taken with a timer on the camera.

Howe's Cavern

Last weekend Rob and I headed up to Saratoga Springs to visit Peggi and Tyrone. Always up for adventure - we headed to Howe's Cavern, along with Peg's new camera.

Here we are about to go down 168 (i think) feet in the elevator.

Inside the cave where it is a nice cool 52 degrees year round. And when we emerged - sunset.
